We’re stoked to see young club members Lucas Wallace & Tiago Borges enter this years English Nationals Under 18’s Bodyboard Competition. The event is due to be held over the weekend 4th – 6th May 2024 at Watergate Bay.

Lucas (16) resides in Bath and has been riding with the club now for 7 months after joining with dad Marc whilst Tiago (17) who is originally from Peniche, Portugal now living in Bristol has been a member with us for 11 months.

Both riders have come on leaps and bounds since joining and attending regular monthly club meets as well as strike missions with other members. This will be the first time young riders from the Bristol Bodyboarders Club have competed in any form of competition & its awesome that we’ve been able to help them with entry fees and support.

As a club it is our aim to continue to encourage youth into the sport of bodyboarding and do all we can to help develop those young riders. Competing at competition level is a small part of the development and progression of the sport of bodyboarding, as it continues to see a resurgence in popularity within the UK. The main aim though is to just have fun and to enjoy the form of wave riding that we all love.

The English Nationals hosted by Surfing England saw the return of the national bodyboard comp last year for the first time in many years with a men’s open and juniors being held.

As a club we wish them all the best for the comp & cant wait to hit Watergate Bay to support the boy from the beach.
